I designed and built this kitchen for some family members in Cedar Park as part of an extensive remodel of their home.

The wall cabinets are maple finished with Target Coatings Em6500 in “White Dove”. The island and floating shelves are rift sawn white oak finished with Rubio Monocoat.

This Mid-Century Modern wall unit is made of walnut plywood and hardwood. There are two 34” wide, 16” tall, 12” deep cabinets with sliding walnut doors. The media cabinet is 72” wide, 18.25” deep, 16” tall with three frosted tempered glass doors. The wall panels stand proud of the wall 3/4” of an inch to allow for the hanging system of plywood and aluminum z clips. An audio visual chase was installed between the tv location and the center of the media cabinet. A total of 11 adjustable shelves are supported by black metal shelf standards and supports.

This built in unit is just over eight feet tall and eight feet wide. The entertainment center provides storage for a/v equipment, books, decorations, as well as a large flat television. The piece is finished with pigmented lacquer matched to the home's trim color.

I built this fireplace surround and the adjacent white oak cabinets for a client. I fabricated and finished the shiplap walls in the shop and installed them onsite. In one day, the customer’s living room transformed from a blank slate into what you see here.

The rift sawn white oak components were finished with rubio monocoat. The white millwork was finished with a high quality enamel trim paint.

Modern Shelves

This built in unit spans over eleven feet. This built in was finished with pigmented lacquer matched to the home's trim color. Each shelf is a torsion box to prevent any sag over the six foot unsupported center section.

These barstools are equal parts Windsor, Shaker and Contemporary. The seat is carved from solid Jatoba - often called Brazilian Cherry. Each of the legs and spindles are turned and tenoned on the ends. The tenons fit into corresponding through mortises in the legs and seat. Those tenons are then wedged from the opposite side to ensure they never loosen and are then cut flush and sanded smooth.

The curved crest rail is attached to the eight spindles and seat with tapered mortise and tenons. The stool is solid as a rock and ready for a lifetime of service at the bar.

I make these stools in any height to match your counter top.

This island is installed in a hip, downtown condo.  The top is 1.5" thick solid sapele.   The island features three very large drawers.  Each drawer has hand cut dovetails at all four corners.  The drawers ride on full-extension, soft-closing slides from Blum.  A slight push to the drawer front opens the drawers and another slight push sends them gently closed.   The side of the island features an adjustable shelf for cookbooks or other more decorative items.  The lower portion of the island is sized to seat six.

The base is finished with Sherwin Williams Kem Aqua in Alabaster.  The Sapele top is finished with a mix of beeswax and linseed oil.

I made the sapele island a few years earlier and the client asked me to come back and make new doors and drawer fronts for the kitchen. The doors are made from 1/16” sapele veneers that are all meticulously grain matched. The insides of the doors are as pretty as the outside. They were laminated to a stable core using epoxy. The finish is a tough catalyzed lacquer.

This kitchen island was a welcome addition to our kitchen in 2017.  The base is made of Poplar and MDF.  The island is our kitchen cleanup zone.  The base houses a dish washer, a very large sink, and a trash and recycle pull out.  The top is edge grain sapele hardwood.

This kitchen island is the heaviest piece of furniture that I've made to date. The base is solid white oak. There are five maple hardwood dovetailed drawers that ride on full-extension soft-closing slides. The hardware is cast brass. The top of the island is 3" thick maple butcher block. The counter top consists of over 200 individual pieces of maple that have been glued together. There is a 20" x 20" piece of marble inlayed into the top at the customer's request for rolling out dough.

This butcher table was an interesting piece to build. It is a medley of different Texas species with a few traditional ones thrown in. The drawer fronts and lower rails are mesquite, the legs and slats are cedar, the top is hard maple, and the drawer boxes and other internals are made of poplar. The piece is built to last with mortise and tenon construction, dovetailed drawers, and dovetailed slats. The finish is a hand rubbed oil on the base and a food safe oil on the maple top. The customers liked it so much, they ordered a second one for a secondary residence.

These versatile stools draw inspiration from Wharton Esherick and Thomas Moser. They are one of the least expensive things that I make, but some of the most beautiful. The seat is carved from a solid piece of wood. Each of the four legs and four spindles are turned and tenoned on the ends. The tenons fit into corresponding through mortises in the legs and seat. The addition of these Douglas Fir and figured maple cabinets really dressed up this office.  The eight file drawers ride on under-mount full-extension soft-closing drawer slides by Blum. The countertop is made of a South American hardwood known as Ipe.

These cabinets are finished with a warter-based lacquer.  The desktop is finished with water-based polyurethane for enhanced durability.

This built-in cabinet was made to fit precisely in an existing TV niche.  The trim detail and paint color match the rest of the woodwork in the home.

This painted mantelpiece was made to replace a poorly proportioned one that was installed by the home builder.  The previous mantel was undersized for the space and installed out of level.  The new mantel is scaled well to the room and is level and square.

This built in unit spans wall to wall in a bonus room above a garage. It is roughly 28 feet long and comprised of eleven individual cabinets. This wall hung cherry console decorates the customer's entry hall and provides four drawers for storage. The carcass is constructed of solid cherry. The grain of the wood wraps from the side of the case, across the top, and down the other side. The four drawer fronts are made from a piece of Birds eye maple. They are decorated only by turned blackwood knobs. The drawers and the case feature dovetail joinery. The finish is shellac and lacquer.

This piece quickly became the most popular item that I make thanks to the Internet.  The feeder was originally designed to allow a friend's cat to eat in peace from the family dog. The door is large enough to allow the cat to enter, but small enough to keep big dogs out. The top is hinged for human access with special toy box hinges.

I posted the original in my portfolio as kind of a joke and ended up getting orders for a half dozen more before year end.  I now make them in two sizes.
